With reference to the subject cited above, ECI directions in chapter 13.26.3 of the Handbook for Returning Officer, 2023(Edition-2) may be referred. In the said direction it has been intimated that Presiding Officers are permitted to carry their mobile phone in silent mode and Micro Observers wherever posted in a polling station can also carry their mobile phones in silent mode. The Commission has prohibited carrying of mobile phones, smart phones, cordless sets, etc. inside the polling stations on the day of poll.
In view of above directions, all ROs/DEOs have to ensure that no Voter is allowed to carry their Mobile phones inside the Polling booth.
Hence, I am directed to request all ROs/DEOs to make suitable arrangements at polling booths for the voter to deposit his/her mobile phone(if carrying) outside the polling booth and get back the same after voting is completed and their exit from the polling booth.
Don’t allow to carry their Mobile phones inside the Polling booth.
